Is it possible to remove a cutout for a dormer in a roof with revit.

Has anybody played with the cutout portion of metal materials. Select the object to be cut. I was hoping to make a tight perforated pattern so i set my circle size and spacing to 1 16 but while the circle may be the correct size though i doubt it the spacing between them is a lot larger than what i specified.
